Ideal sensible heat balance using air density 1.2 kg/m³ and specific heat 1,005 J/kg·K. No recirculation, pressure loss or safety margin. A non-positive temperature rise cannot remove heat by this ventilation model. Hydro systems require separate liquid-loop design.

Formula and assumptions

Cooling tons = total BTU/hour ÷ 12,000. Airflow m³/h = total watts × 3,600 ÷ (1.2 kg/m³ × 1,005 J/kg·K × temperature rise).

The ideal sensible-heat model excludes humidity, fan pressure, recirculation and altitude effects. A non-positive temperature rise cannot remove heat by this method.

Worked example

One 3,500 W miner with a 10°C rise needs approximately 1,045 m³/h of ideal airflow and produces a 0.995-ton thermal load. Fan resistance, humidity, altitude and recirculation are excluded.

Frequently asked questions

Can this choose a fan?

No. Qualified professionals must assess pressure losses, operating curves and installation conditions.

Are cooling tons electrical kW?

No. They describe thermal capacity; electrical demand depends on system performance.
