Start with the electrical load
An ASIC performs hashing work continuously while running. Its wall power determines energy consumption and heat output. Uptime adjusts daily energy and hashing work together; standby loads are not included.
Separate revenue from operating profit
Gross mining revenue is the expected Bitcoin production multiplied by a sourced BTC price. Pool fees and electricity reduce that amount. Operating profit is not take-home income: taxes, financing, repairs, additional cooling and capital depreciation are outside the basic calculation.
Compare complete scenarios
Use the same electricity tariff, uptime and fee assumptions when comparing miners. More hashrate can increase revenue while more watts increase costs. Enter actual purchase quotes before considering simple payback.
