OBSERVATIONS, NOT PREDICTIONS

Bitcoin network data

Revenue estimates depend on a complete, sourced snapshot. Costs and thermal calculations remain available when network data is missing.

Sources & calculation notes

Difficulty is dimensionless; one trillion is 10¹². Hashrate is an estimate. Subsidy excludes transaction fees. With mempool.space, fees are averaged over the latest ten confirmed blocks and subsidy is calculated for the next block height. The timestamp reflects the oldest observation used for freshness. Refresh the page for a newer snapshot; expired data is hidden.

How freshness works

Pages revalidate every five minutes. A snapshot must be no more than one hour old and cannot be more than one minute ahead of the server clock. A failed, malformed or stale response is suppressed. There is no fallback to invented market figures.

Public mempool.space provider

When enabled, mempool.space supplies BTC/USD, current difficulty and estimated network hashrate. Transaction fees use the arithmetic mean of the latest ten confirmed blocks, converted from satoshis to BTC. The subsidy is calculated for the next block height. Requests are cached for ten minutes; public API limits or stale data can temporarily make revenue estimates unavailable. No paid fallback is used.

Why difficulty is used

The revenue model calculates expected work per block from difficulty × 2³². Network hashrate is contextual; it does not override that formula. Subsidy and estimated transaction fees must come from the snapshot source.
